Pete is the Vice President of Innovation Services for Safeway Inc., one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America, with 1,800 stores in the United States and Canada.  In support of its stores, Safeway has an extensive network of distribution, manufacturing, and food processing facilities. 
Pete has been with Safeway since 1996 and has been an IT professional in the retail business since 1975, working for American Stores and Lucky Stores.

Before Innovation Services, he was VP of Enterprise Architecture team, which included transformation planning as well as core services development. Pete also served as of Infrastructure Engineering and Support, responsible for technology selection, deployment and technical support. He lives in Modesto, Ca. with his wife Genny and their two children, Courtney and Matt

Terry Brown

Terrance J. Brown was named Vice President, Information Systems in November 2005 with responsibility for leading information technology strategy and all General Mills’ information technology assets including application development, data management, technology infrastructure, data center operations, and telecommunication networks worldwide. 

Brown joined General Mills in 1976 as a staff accountant and progressed through a series of finance and control positions throughout the company. In 1996 he was named Vice President, Corporate Development with responsibility for directing General Mills’ activities in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, and growth strategy development. From 1998 through 2001 Brown was Vice President, Financial Operations for General Mills’ Supply Chain Operations with accountability for all financial planning, control and information systems activities. In 2001 he was appointed Vice President, Global Internal Audit with responsibility for leading the worldwide audit function for General Mills.

Brown is a 1976 graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting, and earned a CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) in 2004.
Keith Gregg

Keith Gregg serves as Vice President Systems Development for Kohl’s Department Stores.  He is responsible for aligning the company’s technical resources with its E-Commerce and Logistics business requirements.  His areas of focus of late have been:

  • Upgrading the Kohls.com web site to support rapid business growth while implementing innovations to improve the customer shopping experience, enable advanced search capabilities and streamline the checkout process.
  • Replace in-house legacy logistics systems by implementing package warehouse management system in Kohl’s E-Fulfillment center.  Integration approach includes Service Oriented Architecture building blocks such as the installation of an enterprise bus and the development of first services.
  • Extending Kohl’s multi-channel retailing capabilities by expanding in-store points of customer engagement and delivering a more seamless shopping experience through select systems integration.

Before coming to work for Kohl’s, Mr. Gregg spent 19 years with Staples, Inc. where he was a key driver in helping to re-shaping and expanding the company’s e-commerce, retail, multi-channel and merchandising systems’ capabilities.
Prior to Staples, Keith held various positions with IBM, Honeywell and Arrow Electronics.

Donagh Herlihy

In this position, Mr. Herlihy is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the global Supply Chain function and for optimizing the existing Supply Chain network. As CIO he is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology (IT).  Mr. Herlihy is an elected officer of the Company.

Prior to this position, Mr. Herlihy served as the Company’s Chief Information Officer and drove the transformation of the Company’s organization and business processes, enabled by a global implementation of SAP. For 9 months he also served as Vice President - Human Resources.

Mr. Herlihy has 20 years experience in the automotive and consumer packaged goods industries and has held positions in industrial engineering, supply chain management and IT in the United States and Europe. Prior to joining the Wrigley Company in 2000, he led the IT function for Duracell.

A native of Ireland, Mr. Herlihy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Arts from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He is a member of the Information Services committee of the Grocery Manufacturers of America and a Governing Board Member of Lumity, a Chicago based not for profit organization.
LouKlein

Lou Klein
Executive Director IT, Rockwell Automation

Lou Klein brings over 32 years of engineering, business and IT experience to his role as the implementation lead for Rockwell Automation’s Global Process Transformation project.  The goal of this project is to establish consistent, “best in class” business processes on a world wide basis which are realized through the accelerated implementation of a single instance ERP solution.  He is responsible for all aspects of project planning, financial/risk management, technical design, system realization and business cutover.  This includes managing a staff of over 300 IT professionals.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Klein was the Director of IT Applications supporting Rockwell’s manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, finance and HR teams.  Other key roles held at Rockwell include being the Engineering Director for the Drive Systems Business and the Systems Director for the Government Business Division.  Prior to Rockwell Automation, he also held positions with Dow Chemical, American Can and Cutler Hammer.

Mr. Klein holds a BSEE degree from Michigan Technological University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Cathie Kozik

Cathie Kozik

Cathie Kozik is corporate vice president of Information Technology (IT) for Motorola's Integrated Supply Chain, which encompasses the global operations associated with procurement, new product introduction, manufacturing, customer fulfillment and repair.
Prior to joining the Integrated Supply Chain organization in July 2005, Kozik served as vice president of IT for Motorola's Networks business.
Kozik has more than 23 years of IT and engineering experience. Prior to joining Motorola, she was chief information officer and senior vice president for Tellabs' global information systems. In her 10 years at Tellabs, Kozik held management positions in IT and engineering. Earlier on, she worked 10 years at AT&T in customer support and engineering system development.

In 2002, Kozik was honored as an "outstanding electrical and computer engineer" by Purdue University. In 2001, Kozik was named one of Computerworld's "premier 100 IT leaders."

Kozik holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master of business administration degree from the University of Chicago.
Mansour Zadah

Mansour Zadeh

Mr. Zadeh is Chief Information Officer at Smithfield Foods.  In his role, he oversees the information technology and services advancement of all Smithfiled Foods companies through innovative business processes, management practices, and IT capabilities.  He works closely with the operating companies’ executives on Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Execution Systems and IT business related issues.

Prior to his arrival at Smithfield in 2001, he was Chief Technology Officer for Kraft Foods, a $25 billion packaged foods subsidiary of Altria (formerly Philip Morris).  At Kraft, he managed the planning, development and operation of Kraft’s information technology services.  Previously, he led information technology at Miller Brewing Company.  Mr. Zadeh also served as Director of information services at PepsiCo’s Pizza Hut International with worldwide responsibility for applications development and infrastructure technology.

He holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Kansas.  He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School Executive Program.

Mr. Zadeh is an active member of several national IT industry leadership organizations and has participated and spoken in various IT conferences on a national and international level.  Presently, he is Vice Chairman and board member at mpXML (Meat & Poultry XML standards organization), an Editorial Advisory Board member of the Consumer Goods Technology, an Advisory Board member to VECTEC (Virginia Electronic Commerce Technology Center - at Christopher Newport University), and a member of Worldwide Executive CIO Council.

Rob Bois

Rob Bois

Rob Bois works as a research director in AMR Research’s Market Services team with a specific focus on customer management.  He is dedicated to the detailed study of business processes and software related to sales, service, and support functions.  Rob is specifically responsible for researching, analyzing, and writing about channel management, sales tools, marketing automation and software-as-a-service.  Rob works with AMR Research’s clients across multiple industries, including consumer products, discrete and process manufacturing, high-tech, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and automotive.

Rob joined AMR Research in 1999 as a client research analyst, where he was responsible for research and analysis on industry trends and developments in the enabling technologies market.  Rob has also been involved in multiple IT projects related to internal customer management software and strategies.

Before joining AMR Research, Rob worked as a developer and project manager for several different enterprise software suites at Computer Associates.  His responsibilities included managing the conception, design, and implementation of several projects, including graphical user interface design, customer management application integration, and sales configuration software design.  He also performed on-site customer needs analysis across a number of discrete manufacturing industries and oversaw the development cycle through functional design, resource management, implementation, and on-site beta support.

Rob received his BA in computer science from Gettysburg College.

Chris Fletcher

Chris Fletcher brings more than 25 years of industry experience to his role as a research director at AMR Research.  A well-known industry analyst and enterprise applications veteran, Chris is responsible for research and coverage in customer-facing technologies, customer relationship management, and enterprise mobility as part of AMR Research’s Enterprise Research Strategies Service.

Prior to joining AMR Research, Chris was director of alliance and solutions marketing at Nokia, where he worked with several of the top enterprise and mobile application providers to bring mobile solutions to market.  Chris was also a vice president and research director with Aberdeen Group for six years, where he led the customer relationship management practice and initiated coverage into several emerging CRM markets including mid-market CRM, mobile CRM, field force automation, and marketing automation.  Chris has held a variety of business development and management positions within established and start-up technology companies such as Action Technologies, AT&T, Staffware plc, and Symbol Technologies. 

Chris has been quoted in many leading trade and business publications including The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and InformationWeek.  He speaks frequently at industry and trade conferences, user groups, and executive conferences, and is noted for his pragmatic and objective viewpoints.  Chris is also a member of the National Ski Patrol and is a certified Outdoor Emergency Care technician.

Ian Finley

Ian Finley brings a great depth of knowledge as a senior-level executive and investment professional with experience driving product strategy and engineering to his role as a research director at AMR Research.  Ian, a member of the Market Services team, focuses on IT management and SOA.

Ian has over 11 years of executive experience in enterprise application and infrastructure software companies.  Ian was vice president of marketing for Formation Systems, a leading provider of PLM software to the process industries, prior to the company’s acquisition by Infor Global Solutions.  He also ran product marketing for Open Market, the market-leading e-commerce software provider.  Earlier in his career, Ian helped Marcam Corporation define, develop, and market its suite of next-generation object-oriented applications.

In addition to his software industry experience, Ian has four years of experience as an investment professional.  During this time, he helped found and operate Longworth Venture partners, a $140 million venture capital firm.

Over the course of his career, Ian has worked with a diverse range of manufacturing and retail companies, including Limited Brands, Coca Cola, AT&T, General Electric, and Walt Disney Corporation.

Ian has lived and worked in the USA, Europe, and Australia.  He earned his BA in computer science from Williams College.

Tony Friscia

Lee Geishecker

Lee Geishecker brings more than 25 years of financial, operations, and software industry experience to her role as the vice president and general manager of AMR Research’s Enterprise Strategies Service. Her coverage area includes enterprise applications, IT management, enterprise performance management, and applications portfolio management, which all encompass a cross-industry perspective.

Lee has been an industry analyst for over 10 years, covering ERP selection, financial management systems, administrative applications, corporate performance management, and business intelligence.

Before joining AMR Research, Lee served as research vice president at Gartner, where she was the primary analyst covering Oracle Corporation. Prior to that, Lee spent time in both the user and vendor communities. She held senior management positions in various software companies including: Lawson Software, Marcam Corporation, Cullinet Software, and Telco Systems.

Lee is frequently quoted in leading business publications including BusinessWeek, InformationWeek, The Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal. She speaks frequently at industry trade conferences, user group meetings, and executive conferences.

Rob Garf

John Hagerty brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise applications, performance management, and compliance to his role as vice president and research fellow.  He is responsible for leading AMR Research's analysis on strategies, practices, and trends driving governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), business intelligence (BI), and performance management (PM) initiatives in corporations worldwide.

John joined AMR Research in 1998 to cover financial and administrative applications before taking over the SAP practice in 1999.  He spent the last several years covering performance management and compliance. John helped create the term “active compliance framework,” which defines a methodology for organizations supporting governance initiatives.

Prior to joining AMR Research, John held several management positions within the software industry, including a term as vice president of marketing for Pilot Software.  Previously, John worked for Cognos Corporation and Dun & Bradstreet Software.

John is often quoted in the business press and he has appeared on Bloomberg TV for his knowledge on compliance initiatives.  He has authored many articles on GRC, performance management, and the impact of technology on these key business initiatives.

John received a BA from Suffolk University and an MBA from Babson College.

Dave Kasabian

Before joining AMR Research, Dave was a practice director at Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting, where he focused on requirements definition and vendor selection of business intelligence and performance management solutions.  Prior to Alvarez & Marsal, Dave spent 13 years in a variety of roles at performance management software vendors, gaining diverse experience in product marketing, services management, client advocacy, and channels and implementation. 
Dave received his BA from the University of New Hampshire.

Roddy Martin

As vice president and general manager of AMR Research’s Value Chain Strategies Service, Roddy is responsible for managing the company’s value chain analysis and research across all industries.  Roddy researches a variety of topics including systems support to operations, IT, and manufacturing strategy.  Roddy was a key contributor in the development of AMR Research’s demand-driven supply chain model.  His research brings together the strategic, business, and organizational issues faced when implementing IT and enterprise architectures, processes, and applications across the value chain.

Roddy has over 27 years of experience, most recently as an executive at South African Breweries (SAB), one of the three largest brewers in the world.  He held leadership roles in SAB's World Class Manufacturing program and the Strategic Corporate Change Management program.  Prior to SAB, Roddy worked for ISCOR (Iron and Steel Manufacturers) as a technician and millwright in production operations.  He also worked for G.H. Marais and Partners, an electrical and electronic engineering consulting firm.

Roddy is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences and is widely quoted in leading business and industry publications.

Roddy's qualifications include a millwright trade, a technician’s diploma, and a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Nigel Montgomery

Nigel Montgomery brings to AMR Research more than 27 years of extensive, hands-on experience in the application software and automotive manufacturing industries.  As director of European research, Nigel’s primary responsibility is to oversee the overall direction, research agenda, and business development of all European aspects of AMR Research’s initiatives. Nigel is a leading global analyst for AMR Research’s activities for small-to-medium sized businesses.  Nigel has experience in international sales and service, product development, systems analysis and programming, manufacturing, sales support, and channel management.

Nigel joined AMR Research from Aspect Computing, an Australian application tools vendor, where he was responsible for all European marketing, business development, and channel management.  Prior to that position, Nigel was international product manager at Computer Associates, where he was in charge of the European development and marketing of all application products, including PRMS, MANMAN, CAS, Masterpiece and Warehouse Boss. Nigel was also business unit manager responsible for sales of all European-based business applications clients.  Prior to Computer Associates, Nigel worked as an international product marketing manager for Pansophic Systems.

Nigel’s core industry background stems from 14 years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing at MG Rover Group. Following several production control management roles including management of new vehicle development, he spent four years as systems manager for Rover Cars Southern Operations, overseeing application development and systems management for all vehicle assembly and logistics operations.

Nigel speaks frequently at industry trade conferences, user group meetings, and executive conferences. He is widely quoted in leading business and industry trade publications.

Derek Prior Derek Prior

As a research director, Derek Prior brings 28 years of experience in enterprise applications to AMR Research.  His primary responsibility is to expand AMR Research’s coverage into the many operational and technical challenges faced by end users throughout the lifecycle of SAP and other key ERP applications.  Derek is considered a thought leader on key ERP technical and operational issues, including:

Platform performance, including selection and sizing
Architecture, infrastructure, and instance strategy
Centers of excellence and post go-live support
Relationship strategies, including support, licensing, and maintenance

Derek began his career in the United Kingdom as a real-time systems engineer in process control.  Before joining AMR Research, Derek spent six years at Gartner as a recognized international SAP expert.  He spent 17 years at Hewlett-Packard, where he initially focused on process control, quality management and computer integrated manufacturing applications. He then played a leading role in the development of a highly successful partnership between Hewlett-Packard and SAP in the United Kingdom, when the R/3 business application was first launched.

Derek has advised hundreds of clients on SAP systems since R/3 was first introduced in 1992, written extensively on the topic, and spoken at numerous international conferences.

Derek holds a BS in chemical engineering and fuel technology and a doctorate in the mathematical modelling of combustion-generated air pollution, both from the University of Sheffield.

Bruce M. Richardson

Bruce Richardson brings more than 20 years of experience to his current role at AMR Research. Bruce has spent most of his career analyzing the software industry with a distinct emphasis on ERP and supply chain. Since joining AMR Research in 1988, he has been responsible for spearheading new market research and contributing to the company’s analysis of leading market trends in areas such as: ERP, supply chain management, service-oriented architectures, and software-as-a-service.

Bruce is a sought after public speaker, having lectured and presented worldwide on the firm’s behalf nearly 500 times. He has covered and analyzed SAP since 1991 and made many early market predictions that have been realized, such as the rise of the advanced planning market and the evolution of MRP to ERP. Bruce also coined the term MES early in his role at AMR Research when he was responsible for all the written research that came from the firm.

Prior to AMR Research, Bruce held senior marketing management positions within the software and networking industries. He currently serves on the New England Business Technology Association (NEBTA), Leadership Roundtable Series Advisory Board, and is an active member of the Boston College Technology Council.

Jim Shepherd

Jim Shepherd brings more than 30 years of manufacturing, operations, and software industry experience to his role as senior vice president of research for AMR Research.  His coverage area includes ERP systems, supply chain management, and the governance of global IT operations.  Jim also leads AMR Research’s team of analysts covering enterprise applications.

Jim helped to develop AMR Research’s coverage of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and led the company’s effort to establish the Supply Chain Council and define the SCOR Model. He was also the first analyst named as an AMR Research Fellow.

Prior to joining AMR Research, Jim served as vice president of manufacturing at Conrac Corporation and director of materials at ACMI.  He also held senior management positions in several software companies including: Avalon Software, Carp Systems, and ASK Computer Systems.

Jim is frequently quoted in leading business publications, including BusinessWeek, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.  He has also appeared on CNBC and has been interviewed on National Public Radio. Bill Swanton

Bill Swanton brings more than 26 years of enterprise manufacturing expertise to his role as vice president of research in AMR Research’s Enterprise Strategies Service. He is responsible for the firm’s research in IT benefit realization techniques used by Fortune 1000 companies to expand the value they receive from their ERP investments. Recent areas of focus have been master data management and B2B e-commerce.  Bill has also analyzed the high tech and discrete industries, with a specific focus on how brand owners, contract manufacturers, and other suppliers manage global demand-driven supply networks (DDSN).

Bill’s tenure at AMR Research has enabled him to work in a variety of roles at the company.  He built the manufacturing strategies service from a single analyst to a team of vertical industry specialists covering aerospace & defense, automotive, chemical, CPG, high tech, and life sciences.  In this role, he led the development of the firm’s REPAC model of manufacturing processes. Bill also launched AMR Research’s product lifecycle management coverage in 1997 and continues to follow its role in the larger enterprise architecture.

Prior to his many roles with AMR Research, Bill held numerous product marketing and IT positions and gained experience within the manufacturing software, controls, and automation systems markets. He worked in the manufacturing systems division of Kronos Incorporated. He also worked for ITP Group and its MainStream subsidiary in various consulting and product marketing roles.  Bill began his career at the C.S. Draper Laboratory as a systems engineer and software development team leader.

Bill speaks at many industry events and conferences and has been quoted widely by major media and trade publications.

Bill holds a BS in physics and an MS in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
