Jim Varilek, Vice President of Supply Chain, Dow Chemical

Dow Chemical knows plenty about the challenges and opportunities of operating in today’s North American markets. With extensive manufacturing in Canada and a complex network of production and logistics facilities across the continent, Dow has seen crumbling transport infrastructure and rising fuel costs force new thinking about how to handle the U.S. market.  Mr. Varilek will share some of Dow’s views concerning what works and what doesn’t in this supply chain.

With one of the most intricate logistics networks in the world, 7-Eleven faces extreme challenges with rising fuel costs, congested urban delivery schedules, and inherent inefficiencies in the supply chain. Simon Osborn, VP of Logistics at 7-Eleven will begin the session by sharing his views on supply chain complexity, the opportunity to remove redundancy, and the need to become demand driven. This will be followed by dialogue with Rob Garf, VP of Retail Strategies at AMR Research, who will direct questions focused on partner collaboration and joint value creation to increase profitability across the extended network.
