When Starbucks opens a new retail store, the axiom goes, it signals that the neighborhood is on the rise. In this light, when SAP jumps into the hosted subscription CRM business with its newly unveiled SAP Sales on-demand product, it validates that this on-demand model is primed for the enterprise. Yet SAP’s approach differs from the established SaaS vendors, and really doesn’t compete directly with the established SaaS CRM vendors.
