PTC Acquires Arbortext, Moves Further Toward End-to-End PLM

PTC is acquiring Arbortext, a well-regarded document publishing company. The deal values the privately held Arbortext at approximately $190M, which will be paid for with PTC’s relatively large cash position. Strategically the acquisition opens the door to a diverse customer list, new markets, and an enhanced PLM product. The price is significant at $190M, which is 4.8-times revenue, eating up half of PTC’s $384M cash.
