Functionality Is Dead

A client recently asked me to survey its customer base about what these customers consider of most value. We assumed that it would be some combination of functional and technological superiority, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. This wasn’t the first time I was wrong about the relative importance of functionality. Ultimately, I was wrong about how an intuitive and almost fun user experience can make up for a lot of functional and technological shortcomings.
