Jim Murphy brings hands-on experience in enterprise content management and collaboration to his current position as research director, knowledge and content management. Jim advises AMR Research’s clients on knowledge management, collaboration, content management, enterprise search, and portals. Jim also works with software vendors on marketing and product strategies and tracks trends to assess the competitive landscape. Jim was instrumental in developing AMR Research’s customer portal and many of the firm’s internal knowledge management practices.
Having worked at AMR Research since 1996, Jim has held various positions in the IT, marketing, editorial, and research departments. As director of publications, he was responsible for building the company’s content management strategy, including the design, creation, editing, publishing, and distribution of thousands of print and electronic reports and articles per year. Prior to joining AMR Research, Jim taught English literature at a number of New England colleges and high schools.
Jim has written and published numerous articles on a broad range of technology topics, and has been quoted in numerous trade and top-tier publications, including The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Financial Times, and Reuters.
Jim received his BA from the College of the Holy Cross and his MA from Boston College.

Improving the SAP User Interface to Increase Adoption

IT executives are striving to improve the overall adoption of SAP software within the enterprise, especially among the business users who are not constantly using the system. In this teleconference, AMR Research will highlight key UI design principles that companies have used to improve adoption of SAP, and then facilitate a discussion among Peer Forum members around what design techniques are most successful. Lastly, we will discuss the tools and technologies members use to support deploying SAP effectively to professional users as well as the role and future of SAP Enterprise Portal.
