As a research director, Derek Prior brings 28 years of experience in enterprise applications to AMR Research. His primary responsibility is to expand AMR Research’s coverage into the many operational and technical challenges faced by end users throughout the lifecycle of SAP and other key ERP applications. Derek is considered a thought leader on key ERP technical and operational issues, including:

  • Platform performance, including selection and sizing
  • Architecture, infrastructure, and instance strategy
  • Centers of excellence and post go-live support
  • Relationship strategies, including support, licensing, and maintenance

Before joining AMR Research, Derek spent six years at Gartner as a recognized international SAP expert. He spent 17 years at Hewlett-Packard, where he initially focused on process control, quality management and computer integrated manufacturing applications. He then played a leading role in the development of a highly successful partnership between Hewlett-Packard and SAP in the United Kingdom, when the R/3 business application was first launched.

Derek holds a BS in chemical engineering and fuel technology and a doctorate in the mathematical modelling of combustion-generated air pollution, both from the University of Sheffield.
